
La Couverture Verte was created in 2004 . It regroups, invite artists and offer various activities with its members and partners intervener :
- artistic multimedia workshops (drawing, painting, photo, animated images, writing )
- facilities ( mobile and aerial land-art) and multi-disciplinary outdoor performances (collective and participative paintings and musical interactions),
- activities for all publics (children, adults, schools, families…)
These activities aim to raise, promote, stimulate creativity among everyone.
La Couverture Verte is part of a sustainable development approach. It encourages sustainable behaviors, such as the usage of local money to promote the development of local activities and fair economic exchanges.
If you use the local money (La Roue) and/or live in Arles, La Couverture Verte offers you a discount on his workshops.
The origins…
La Couverture Verte was born from various arlesian artists gathering for a solidary project during the flooding of Rhône in Arles in december 2003.
Multiple reunions in spring 2004 led to the creation of the organization. Its name was found randomly in a Van Gogh’s letter send to his brother, Theo, July 6th of 1882.
At the time, Vincent Van Gogh live in La Haye with Sien (Clasina Hoornick). He just installed his first painting studio. When Sien will give life to his 2nd child, this Couverture Verte (green coverage) will be put on the cradle that will host him…
